Installing Roots or Trust chains
This video continues a tutorial for using PKI credentials from home on Windows 8.1 computers. Manage expectations: Browse=yes. Webmail sign / enc = No Let's assume you already have a Smart Card reader. 1. Download the files to trust the DoD PKI 2. Installing the trust 3. Making sure things are in the right place 4. Access a site that requires Trust 5. That's it! Internet Explorer is ready to present certificates Now it's possible to browse to web sites that use the PKI we've chosen to trust. Be aware that not all sites rely on the same certificate for log in. If a site doesn't let you in, close the browser completely, re-open and try a different certificate. Get a new card recently? Some sites require extra steps to associate new certificates for an existing account and may require contacting the site's support team. |
